Ivan, a university student about to marry his girlfriend and boss Ursula, is caught in a deadly mix-up. While running errands, he runs into an old friend just as three robbers storm a bank. After seeing their faces, he becomes a target and is forced to flee.
Cornered in a dead-end street, he escapes through the basement of a Chinese restaurant, opening a door that leads to a tropical beach—gateway to a parallel world of strange creatures.
