A cake for Allegro

A milestone for Allegro Non Troppo as it turns 50. We kicked off the celebrations at the Interactive Museum of Cinema (MIC) in the delightful company of Maurizio Nichetti and Maurizio Micheli.

Fifty years after being hailed by American critics as “a brilliant Italian answer to Disney’s Fantasia,” Allegro non Troppo returns to the United States.

Today, in collaboration with BBD Snc and Minerva Pictures, GKIDS – a renowned New York-based producer and distributor specializing in Academy Award nominated and winning films – has acquired the U.S. rights to a significant portion of Bruno Bozzetto’s body of work, including Allegro non Troppo.

This acquisition marks a major step..

in bringing Bozzetto’s celebrated animation back to American audiences introducing a new generation to one of Italy’s most distinctive voices in animation. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Allegro non Troppo, GKIDS will release the restored film in American theaters, beginning with a special screening at the Metrograph in New York on March 27.

David di Donatello

In May 2026, Bruno receives the Special David Award at the 71st edition of the David di Donatello Awards, Italy’s most prestigious film awards. The honor recognizes his extraordinary career and lasting contribution to the art of animation. The award is presented during the ceremony at Cinecittà Studios in Rome, celebrating Bruno as one of the masters of Italian and international animation.

News out of this world !

From today, an asteroid orbiting between Mars and Jupiter officially carries Bruno Bozzetto’s name: (132668) Brunobozzetto, a designation approved by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).

The idea came from astrophysicist Sabrina Masiero and became a reality thanks to Dr. Fabrizio Bernardi, who discovered the asteroid and proposed that it be named in Bruno’s honor.

Join us on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 5:00 PM at GAL Hassin – International Center for Astronomical Sciences in Isnello, Sicily,

for the special event “Bozzetto in Orbit.” The afternoon will celebrate Bruno Bozzetto’s remarkable career and include the official presentation of the certificate for asteroid, followed by screenings of some of his animated short films.

Back to Bolero

Bruno Bozzetto will be among the featured artists in the National Museum of Cinema’s major new dinosaur exhibition, opening this November at the Mole Antonelliana in Torino/Turin, Italy. The exhibition, whose main attraction will be two spectacular Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons, will also celebrate Bruno’s unique contribution to animation and his original way of portraying prehistory and evolution.

Pop art in milan

A whole year of fun, pop spirit, and cinema magic comes to an end at MIC. The exhibition was a project of Matteo Pavesi, Director of the Cineteca of Milan, with our pop collaboration!

Are we sapiens at all ?

A bitter reflection on humans as ‘sapiens,’ told in three linked stories about the tragic fall of a biped who wants to be the most powerful king of nothing. Each episode opens with a short remark from Bruno Bozzetto and is set to a piece of classical music.
